There are several new additions to RE5, but the formula that Little do most people know, Capcom has been porting the Resident Evil series to the PC since the very first however, as most people know, they have been absolutely terrible ports, with RE4 being the worst offender. Luckily Resident Evil 5 has turned out exceptionally well and may be the best game Capcom has brought to the PC. Little do most people know, Capcom has been porting the Resident Evil series to the PC since the very first however, as most people know, they have been absolutely terrible ports, with RE4 being the worst offender. IS: Neat, enjoyable, more-ish, long, co-opy IS NOT: Perfect, a bad port, too long, scary. The whole package is let down ever so slightly by the ending which is scripted too much and in actual fact leads to a frustrating time rather then suspense. There are not a lot of times when you ask yourself how the hell do you do 'X'. The play style lends itself very much towards enjoyable, fluid, intuitive gameplay. You spend some time after a large battle regrouping, swapping inventory items and creating as much space in there for your upcoming adventure. All of a sudden you find yourself screaming at your partner to get that shotgun ammo to you ASAP and then you can heal fully. If you play this game through with a sentient being however, your playing experience goes through the roof. your partner will run into danger all to eagerly and sometimes they will just lag behind offering very little in the way of help. If you play it through on single player you will find the AI lacks as the game progresses. The restriction on items and ammo makes the game a lot more immersive and makes you have to include your partner in every decision. For the first time I can remember, this is a co-op that plays like a co-op rather than a single player with 2 players rather than 1. Mostly however they have remade this into a proper co-operative game. If you RE5 captures some elements of the original RE. RE5 captures some elements of the original RE. Sadly these are so bad I can only give it 3 out of 5, which is a real shame. Overall it’s a top-flight game marred only but it’s poorly designed controls and interface. Ammo is often scarce so you have to be more thoughtful about your approach to the combat than in many games. And, controls aside, the gameplay is enjoyable, with a good selection of environments, some pretty tough bosses, and a range of simple but enjoyable puzzles to solve. The graphics are among the best I’ve ever seen, with particularly impressive character models and animations. So what is there to like? Well it looks amazing. And you can’t access the inventory during gameplay (although I understand the reasoning behind this it is frustrating at times). The UI looks like something out of the 90s and is clunky to say the least. Sheva gets in the way more often than not. What the hell is that all about? Also the AI is pretty poor. And you can’t jump or crouch unless prompted. When aiming the sight is often (although, oddly, not always) wrenched away from the point already centred so you have to find your target again. These are the main problems: You can’t move while reloading, aiming, or shooting instead you become rooted to the spot and therefore hopelessly vulnerable to attack.
